Citing people close to the company, the newspaper saidInchcape, which issued a Dec. 15 profit warning ID:nLF613643,was examining options which include a rights issue or shareplacing and was being advised by Deloitte A spokesman for Inchcape declined to comment. But a glimmer of hope for stocks could come from signs thatCongress is heeding his call for an urgent and large stimuluspackage, after his warning that the economy could slip furtherinto recession and unemployment could climb to double digits. "We're now turning toward this fiscal stimulus package aspotentially our last hope and savior because there's noindication that monetary policy can any longer break thecycle," said Paul Mendelsohn, chief investment strategist atWindham Financial Services.
